Reading glasses were no match for my Fuchs morning vision. Any fine print on food labels, prescription drugs, or phone-based e-mails posed a challenge.

Example of the loss of detail in woven or textured fabrics due to Fuchs vision:

Night vision with the classic Fuchs "halo" effect: It takes away all detail in the shadows, as enlarged light sources overpower the scene. Some patients appear to see even stronger halos than pictured here.

Biking safety near potholes has improved dramatically since my surgery. My Fuchs vision used to take so much contrast and detail away that it was nearly impossible to gauge the actual depth of potholes, or spot them far in advance. This was especially tricky during low light conditions.
